Odoo is a suite of business apps that share one database. Most companies start with a few, such as CRM, Sales, Inventory and Accounting, and switch on more as they need them: a website and online store, point of sale, manufacturing, projects, helpdesk or HR.

Spire or Odoo?
Spire is usually the better fit when…
- •You’re a Canadian distributor or manufacturer and want a proven, focused ERP.
- •You need in-house Canadian payroll (EI, CPP, QPP).
- •You’re moving from Sage BusinessVision or QuickBooks.
- •You want our Spire apps: OrderDesk, Envelope AI, GEMAI and Analytics for Spire.
Odoo is usually the better fit when…
- •You want your website, online store and back office in one system.
- •You need apps Spire doesn’t have, like projects, helpdesk, marketing or HR.
- •Your processes are unusual and you expect to customize heavily.
- •You prefer open source and control over where it’s hosted.
We implement both, so we’ll tell you which one fits. One thing to know: Odoo’s Payroll app doesn’t list a Canadian localization, so Canadian Odoo users usually pair it with a payroll service.

Common questions
What’s the difference between Community and Enterprise?+
Community is Odoo’s open-source edition and is free. Enterprise is licensed and adds extra apps, Odoo’s hosting and professional services. Enterprise is built on Community, and you can switch later.
Where does Odoo run?+
Odoo Online is Odoo’s own cloud. Odoo.sh is a cloud platform that also runs custom modules, with staging and backups. Or you can host Odoo on your own server.
How is Odoo priced?+
Per user, per month, in CAD. There’s a free plan with one app and unlimited users; the paid plans include all apps for one fee. Studio, multi-company and the external API come with the Custom plan. Implementation is separate.
Does Odoo do Canadian payroll?+
Odoo’s Payroll app doesn’t list a Canadian localization, so most Canadian companies use a payroll service alongside Odoo. If in-house Canadian payroll matters, Spire may be the better fit.
Can Odoo connect to our other systems?+
Yes, through Odoo’s external API (on the Custom plan) or custom modules. We build those integrations.
